Metallica New Album Hardwired...to Self Destruct Tops Music Charts


Metallica has sold the equivalent of 291,000 copies of their latest album Hardwired...to Self Destruct in the United States which makes it the highest selling album of the week.

"Death Magnetic, I really liked. It was a little more harsh to the ear," said singer James Hetfield, "This one sounds a little easier to listen to, but heavy still. I wanted to combine 'Kill 'Em All' and The Black Album, somehow, with some layers, harmonies and simplicity."


Hardwired marks the sixth straight Metallica album to debut at number one in the United States. It's 291,000 units moved earned Metallica the third biggest opening week of 2016 in the United States, behind Beyonce and Drake. The thrash icons tenth studio album sold over 800,000 copies worldwide landing it at number one on music charts in over 20 counties worldwide.

Hardwired...to Self Destruct was released on November 18, 2016 via their Blackened Recordings
