Travis Barker recently appeared on the Kevin and Bean radio show to talk about the Musink Festival, Blink-182 grammy nomination, and the new Transplants album.
Sweet. But what is the Musink festival?
“It’s everything I love. I grew up getting beat up and spit on at NOFX concerts, Lagwagon concerts, Vandals, Pennywise," said Barker. "It’s really made up of a bunch of friends of ours and people I’ve just been fans of.”
The three day car show/tattoo convention/concert will take place in Costa Mesa at the OC Fairgrounds on March 17-19 featuring hundreds of the worlds renowned tattoo artists and bands like NOFX, Pennywise, The Used, and Bad Religion.
This year marks the festivals tenth anniversary.
While Blink-182 will not be performing at Musink, they may make an appearance at the upcoming Grammy Awards. The band was nominated for their first Grammy award for their latest album California.
“It’s pretty cool. I’ve been a part of the Grammys many times. Once with Eminem, Drake, and Lil Wayne, once with Chuck D and Tom Morello, and once with Pit Bull and Joe Perry,” said Barker. “This felt even more crazy, more insane, it’s actually for the band I play with. It’s taken us forever to get recognized.”
Aside from touring and being nominated for grammy awards, Barker has finished recording a covers album with Transplants, which should drop sometime soon.
“Between myself, Tim, and Rob, there is a lot of musical influences, and when we went in to record this covers album it was ‘anything goes.’ You can bring an idea for a cover and we’re gonna record it, no matter what it was.”
The current music lineup for MUSINK is as follows:
