By now you've probably seen the video of Mariah Carey walking around on stage for a few minutes while the instrumental version of her 1991 hit Emotions played in the background.
Akward.
The performance was panned as dreadful and Mariah has definitely taken a hit but according to her team, Mariah Carey was sabotaged.
Apparently, the earpiece for Mariah Carey began malfunctioning early in the evening. Her request for a new earpiece was denied and she was told that her existing earpiece would be working during the performance.
It was never fixed.
“You know her inner ears were NOT working and your entire production team did not set her up to win,” Mariah's manager Stella Bulochnikov wrote to Mark Shimmel, a producer for ABC.
Unable to hear the music over the crowd of a million people, Mariah Carey could do little of anything but walk around and wait for the music to end.
“Once things went wrong, they took the decision to keep rolling and make her look like a train wreck for the ratings,” said Bulochnikov.
“They owe her a public apology.”Bulochnikov ended the letter demanding a “formal apology”. She also claimed the singer may pursue legal action if no mea culpa occurs.
