Jon Jones Finally Stripped/Suspended From UFC

Sherdog

Jon Jones was arrested Monday night in Albuquerque, New Mexico after his alleged involvement in an auto accident. According to witnesses, Jon Jones allegedly ran a red light and hit a woman who ended up breaking her arm. He then allegedly fled on foot, before returning to the scene for a large amount of cash. Witnesses who identified Jon Jones allegedly included an off-duty police officer and a UFC fan.

Inside the abandoned vehicle, police officers found a marijuana pipe and rental paperwork linking Jon Jones to the SUV.

Jon Jones turned himself into law enforcement after being charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, a felony. Jones paid a $2500 bail and was freed on Monday, April 28th. On Tuesday, April 29th, Jon Jones made his first court appearance to face all charges against him. The judge did not throw Jones in jail, nor place any travel restrictions on Jon Jones, making him available for the scheduled May 23rd title defense against Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson.

Regardless, UFC President Dana White stripped Jon Jones of the UFC Light Heavyweight title and suspended him indefinitely.

White also announced that Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson will fight Daniel Cormier, whom Jon Jones beat in December, at UFC 187 for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. Meanwhile, Jon Jones could land in jail for a maximum of three years plus fines after this latest episode.
Maybe 'Superman' isn't so Super after all.

We should applaud UFC officials for making the right decision, as this wasn't Jon Jones first time getting caught with banned substances. In January, Jon Jones entered a rehab treatment center after testing positive for cocaine during a pre-fight drug test by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. However, news didn't surface of the dirty test for two days after the fight. With Anderson Silva's recent dirty steroids tests, no one want's to get a reputation for having dirty athletes.
